Welcome to
Making Place
Making Place
A space for co-creation, community, learning and teaching through art.
I started Making Place to serve as a space for others to co-creating and meaning in making. This is a place for process and processing.
I landed on “Making Place” due to its multiple meanings and interpretations - “a making place”, to “make place” for others and “placemaking”.
Placemaking refers to a collaborative approach to shaping public spaces through community involvement and focuses on creating spaces that are reflective of the community's needs. It’s about designing areas, foster a sense of belonging. Placemaking transforms ordinary spaces into destinations that foster community pride. It's not just about "making a place," but about making a place that matters.
Placemaking also refers to the socio-political meaning of specific spaces, viewing "places" as having cultural, historical, emotional, or social significance. It involves understanding how spaces become meaningful through human activity, storytelling, memory, identity, and community interaction.
Making Place is in its infancy. I have purposefully kept it this open, allowing it to grow organically in whichever direction feels natural.
